Financial planning and investments for a rich retirement
I was very intrigued by the pilot and I found it a funny fantasy with a great mystery twist. I had never seen anything like this before and it came as a very pleasant surprise when i tuned in. This also comes with a bad side since the pilot had no real clue to what direction the show was headed in. I figured it could turn into another boring mystery drama with some fantasy elements thrown in, or keep being strange and great. Fortunately we got the latter and I am very pleased to say I even enjoyed the 2nd episode more than the pilot.
The story continues from the pilot as they are interested in solving a hit and run crime for the large reward. This leads them to the offices of the new car that is dandelion powered. They eventually find that this was not a normal hit and run and a conspiracy behind the company unfolds. I will keep the plot very vague because it is so fun and original I don’t want to ruin anything.
The comedy element in this show was even more prevalent in this episode than the pilot, and I found myself laughing out loud at most of the jokes. The humor is my favorite part of the show because it is very ironic and goofy at times but also can be dark and sometimes twisted. There was both subtle and laugh out loud humor and also it poked a lot of fun at the auto industry.
The voice-over of Jim Dale returns and is around just as much in the 2nd episode as the first and its something that I hope stays throughout the whole series. The show looks amazing with a great atmosphere and mood that just makes you want to smile whenever you see it. Everything looks unique and also bright and sunny.
The main part of the story is the hit and run mystery but the episode also goes into much depth into Olive’s character. We find out just how much she loves Ned and how bad his new relationship with Chuck hurts her. The mystery is great and very interesting along with being very funny. I enjoyed this episode a lot and hope that it stays on the same path and continues to be one of my favorite shows on TV today
Can’t Wait for next week
Wednesday was a great night for Daisies with an average of about 13 million viewers along with getting almost unanimous critical acclaim(myself included). I would like to pick out some various reviews that I came across to see what critics thought was good and bad about the show.
86 from Critics and 8.1 from Users
Highest Score: 100(from 6 critics) Some said it was perfect some said it was the best show of the fall all enjoyed it.
Lowest Score: 63 from New York Post. ” is fanciful and fun, but sometimes pushes the daisies too hard” read the full review here
“Pushing Daisies stakes out a brave, broad swath of storytelling territory, and a potentially fertile one.” to see the rest of the review click the link above.
“The series’s saucy tone and bizarre conceit may prove hard to sustain, but the pace is quick, the dialogue is clever, and the casting is perfect.”
UGO.com Grade: A
“Pushing Daisies is a revelation, the kind where you briefly close your eyes and inhale slightly while smiling.”
Standing head and shoulders above this fall’s other seedlings, “Pushing Daisies” is whimsical, romantic, funny and visually distinctive
It’s good to see that so many critic liked the show along with having such good ratings. I am hoping that this is a good sign to show that Pushing Daisies isn’t going anywhere.
Hi, Mike here to talk about the first episode of Pushing Daisies.
I wasn’t sure about this show before it aired because for the most part it’s not the kind of show that I enjoy. At first I was expecting a sort of goofy fluffy kind of fairy tale, and fortunately this was not the case. The show has a great premise in which the main character Ned “The Pie maker”, has a gift that lets him raise the dead with a touch of his finger. This may sound good but they can only stay alive for 1 minute before someone else has to die. Once he touches someone once he cannot touch them again or they will be dead forever. I will not spoil any of the plot points that involve these rules because they play out very well.
The show looks fantastic and is directed in a way that I haven’t ever seen on a television series before. I also think that the show was cast very well and the acting is very well done. I enjoyed the voice over work done by Jim Dale, and this was the first time I had ever heard him do narration. This is the first time I have seen most of the cast other than Lee Pace(Ned), who was also in The Good Shepard and Chi McBride who has been in a bunch of movies and TV shows including Boston Public, and House.
The premise for the show was the thing that really hooked me early. I watch an amazing amount of TV, and for the most part it takes 2 or 3 episodes to really get me to want more. Within 20 minutes of this show I already was hooked and looking for more which hasn’t ever really happened to me before. It is very much a fantasy and never tries to establish itself as anything more realistic than that. The also has a unique type of comedy and a very fun atmosphere.
It will be interesting to see where they take the show from here and I am hoping it continues on the same path as the pilot went.
